Lowe’s Holoroom brings Virtual Reality to retail
Lowe’s Home Improvement announced today that they are rolling out the award-winning Lowe’s Holoroom in the U.S., starting with store locations in Ohio and Colorado. The first generation of the Holoroom was tested in Toronto in 2014. Designed to take the guesswork out of home improvement projects, the all-new Lowe’s Holoroom makes it easy for users to create a dream kitchen or bathroom on an iPad in mere minutes, then experience their design in 360-degree Virtual Reality while wearing an Oculus DK2. Designs may also be exported to YouTube 360 for easy sharing.
“The next-generation Holoroom continues to fulfill our long-term vision for how Augmented and Virtual Reality technologies can help customers have more confidence and more fun with home improvement,” Kyle Nel said. “We can’t wait to see what our customers create as they bring their imagination to life with these new tools.”
Lowe’s expects to roll out at least six Holorooms before the holiday season. It is the first known use of Virtual Reality for retail to be rolled out to multiple live store locations across the country. Will there be one near you? Find out here.
