Welcome to the latest post in our “Employee Q&A” series, where we interview an employee to reflect on their career and experience at 3D Cloud™. Part of our success is mainly due to our people. So, we’re excited to feature a hardworking team member to learn about their journey at 3D Cloud.
This week, we spotlight Andrew Woods, User Experience Designer, at 3D Cloud™. Let’s read on to learn more!
Andrew, how did you learn about 3D Cloud™, and what is your current role at the company?
My role is a User Experience Designer, striving for best-in-class intuitive and engaging user experiences for our products.
I learned about 3D Cloud through Matt Mooney, a former colleague who knew I was considering a career transition. I trusted his endorsement of 3D Cloud’s culture and team dynamics and was almost drawn to the 3D design sector.
I majored in Architecture for three years before ultimately transferring to Digital Design. While my UX Design career seldom required me to draw upon the 3D skills I learned studying Architecture, 3D Cloud presented that opportunity, and it resonated with me immediately. I knew it was a great match.
What does your role consist of?
I collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, other designers, and clients, to understand user needs, define product requirements, and design user interfaces that are functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Overall, my role is centered around advocating for the user and championing design excellence to deliver impactful solutions that meet both user and business goals.
What do you like most about the work we do here?
It’s inspiring to work alongside talented individuals passionate about their craft and dedicated to delivering exceptional products. As a UX Designer, you often hear, “We can’t implement that” throughout your career. Something I really appreciate about working at 3D Cloud is that, more often than not, you hear, “I think we can pull that off.”
How do you structure your day?
So, I bought a cold plunge. I’m still unsure whether I like it or not, but one thing I am sure of, it wakes me up faster than a cup of coffee.
I spend my mornings level setting with the product and UX teams and my afternoons design sprinting. I love our UX team’s daily collaboration sessions before lunch. It’s a great way to check in on each other’s work and keep a pulse on all the moving parts of our platform applications.
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
If Saudi Arabia actually pulls it off, I want to see the “Mirror Line” 76-mile skyscraper.
What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?
I want to learn more about generative AI, specifically voice/video deepfakes. I’m here for the memes!
Thank you, Andrew, for your responses. We appreciate your dedication to the team and the important skills you bring.
