Welcome to the latest post in our “Employee Q&A” series, where we interview an employee to reflect on their career and experience at 3D Cloud™. Part of our success is mainly due to our people. So, we’re excited to feature a hardworking team member to learn about their journey at 3D Cloud.
This week, we spotlight Austin Groff, Technical Project Manager at 3D Cloud™. Let’s read on to learn more!
Austin, how did you learn about 3D Cloud™, and what is your current role at the company?
Currently, I’m a Technical Project Manager. I heard about 3D Cloud™ when a friend of mine sent me a job listing for a QA role that she thought might be up my alley. Turns out she was right!
What does your role consist of?
I’m the link between our clients and our internal teams. I gather objectives from the client, turn those into requirements for our internal teams, and then create and maintain project plans to deliver those back to the client. I meet with our internal teams daily to understand any blockers and keep the ball rolling.
What do you think is the most important skill that you bring to the table?
Communication. It’s important for everybody to stay on the same page throughout the course of a project, and it’s important to know who to go to for things.
How do you motivate yourself at work? Do you have any secret tips?
It’s really easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and lose sight of the big picture. Often, a new feature or product gains massive praise from unfamiliar eyes at the end of a project. Those moments help remind me, “Oh right, this thing I just helped build is super cool.”
What are three words to describe 3D Cloud?
Fast. Comprehensive. Sharp
What is the best advice you could give to someone who just started a career at 3D Cloud?
Talk to as many people as you can! There’s such a variety of skilled and interesting people here to learn from.
What have you gained from working at 3D Cloud?
A good personal process. When you’re surrounded by a good team every day, you’ll gradually pick up on things that other people do well and start incorporating them into your own routine – sometimes without realizing it!
Who are some of your biggest inspirations at 3D Cloud, and why?
Ann-Marie Witcomb. She’s set a fair amount of our standards on what it means to be a good Project Manager. I now have a sense of autonomy that she’s largely responsible for.
What is a dream that you want to make come true one day?
I’d like to build a golf hole in my backyard. Water optional.
What is one food you can’t resist? Pizza? Ice Cream?
The bourbon chicken on Brown Street in Dayton. Two sides of cajun spuds, sauce on everything.
Thank you, Austin, for sharing insights about yourself and your journey at 3D Cloud™. We appreciate your dedication to the team, our mission, and the important skills you bring.
