Welcome to the latest post in our “Employee Q&A” series, where we interview an employee to reflect on their career and experience at 3D Cloud™. Part of our success is mainly due to our people. So, we’re excited to feature a hardworking team member to learn about their journey at 3D Cloud.
This week, we spotlight Ryan Harlow, Lead Material Artist at 3D Cloud™. Ryan is one of our most playful associates and enjoys expressing his sense of humor. Let’s read on to learn more!
Ryan, how did you learn about 3D Cloud™, and what is your current role at the company?
A friend of mine was the former lead of the 3D team. I am currently the Lead Material Artist.
What does your role consist of?
Solving 3D-related issues regarding materials and processes, designing new tools to bolter our material quality as well as optimization, creating new materials, fixing old materials, helping with 3D demos, and providing feedback to 3D-related tools outside of my team and the tools my team is working on, manage my small team of material artists, elevate my team’s skills, and overall, just try to make our 3D output look better.
What do you love most about the work we do here?
I like solving art-related problems and streamlining processes, which I get to do pretty often.
How do you structure your day?
Our priority list is basically this: Material remediation, demo work, documentation, material creation, and then R&D on material generation techniques and tooling. Meetings get sprinkled in where needed, and often reorganize my day on the fly, as meetings tend to come with remediation or demo work, which, as mentioned, take priority over new work or R&D.
If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be?
I would visit the center of the flat Earth and make peace with the reptilian race of superhumans and become one of their own, effortlessly mastering their ancient customs and lifestyle until I become their unlikely leader. 😉 👽
What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?
Sincerity.
Thank you, Ryan, for your lighthearted responses, we love seeing your joking nature. We appreciate your dedication to the team, our mission, and the important skills you bring.
